Podcast: Clark Strand, Waking Up to the Dark

What is the “Hour of God,” and how does our modern sleep pattern reflect our evolution? Clark Strand explains, and shares why we shouldn’t be afraid of the dark.

Clark Strand is the author of Seeds From a Birch Tree: Writing Haiku and the Spiritual Journey and Now Is the Hour of Her Return: Poems In Praise of the Divine Mother Kali. He is the co-founder of an international, non-sectarian rosary fellowship dedicated to sharing the messages of Our Lady and the co-author, with Perdita Finn, of The Way of the Rose: The Radical Path of the Divine Feminine Hidden in the Rosary. For more information, visit wayoftherose.org.

His essay “Wake Up to the Dark” is featured in the January/February 2023 issue of Spirituality + Health.

“Our metabolic force, our life force, is not sufficient to override this ancient pattern that’s really hardwired into our DNA—to wake after 4 hours. So, what a lot of people experience as insomnia later in life is actually nothing of the kind. It’s simply a reversion to this ancient pattern of sleep.

In this episode, Clark and Rabbi Rami talk about harmful technology, evolutionary sleep patterns, and the Divine Feminine.
