The Beautiful Superfood: Pearl
Did you know you can eat pearls for their various health benefits including skin and bone health, as well as cell renewal?
Pearls are lovely accessories and can make you feel glamorous, but did you know that you can also eat them? Asian royalty have used pearl for centuries as a renowned tonic herb for health and beauty. In fact, pearl is packed with minerals, amino acids, and cofactors that make it one of the best anti-aging substances.
It is said to help with dark spots, sagging, and wrinkled skin which is due in part to its potent antioxidants that enhance the activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD), one of the body's strongest enzymes.
Pearl powder is also considered al Shen stabilizer in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) meaning it stabilizes one’s mood. It treats symptoms such as uneasiness, sleeplessness, nervousness, anxiety and tension. Essentially, pearl calms the spirit and supports the nervous system. It also can help increase energy levels and vitality.
The powerhouse of minerals, including calcium, magnesium, zinc, iron, strontium, copper, selenium, silicon, titanium, and more, is impressive. Additionally, pearl is rich with amino acids, eight of which are “essential”—meaning they cannot be produced by the body, but are needed for overall good health.
