The Sacred Promise: How Science is Discovering Spirit's Collaboration with Us in Our Daily Lives

by Gary E. Schwartz, with foreword by John Edward

“What if our increasing feelings of emptiness, loneliness, hopelessness, and meaninglessness are fostered by our belief in a Spirit-less Universe? … What if Spirit is actually all around us, ready to fill us with energy, hope, and direction if we are willing to cooperate with it?” Gary Schwartz, PhD, brings his impeccable credentials as a scientist to these questions in what he calls “the science of the seemingly impossible” — the search for scientifically verifiable evidence of Spirit’s interaction with us.

In The Sacred Promise, Schwartz takes us into the science laboratory and its systematic, controlled experiments, as well as into what he calls “self-science,” the data collected in the natural laboratory of daily life, to observe his explorations of the connection between the human world and that of Spirit.

In our time, the fact that something is invisible to us no longer means that we disbelieve that it exists — all of our newest technologies are based on invisible electromagnetic frequencies, and new measurement devices are revealing that the universe is filled with light frequencies to which we are, literally, blind. In spite of this, it is still considered taboo to scientifically research the spiritual realm. The Sacred Promise takes us beyond where most dare to go — to evidence for the concept that Spirit has both the active desire and the ability to interact with us and to help us. Considering himself an “orthodox agnostic” when it comes to afterlife research, Schwartz says, “For me, scientific integrity means following the data where it takes you. If there is a greater spiritual reality, and if it can actually assist us in our individual and collective lives, then the sooner we can receive this assistance the better it will be for our species and the planet as a whole. If ever was a time for us to awaken to these profound possibilities, this is it.”

Dr. Gary Schwartz is the author of several books and is professor of psychology, medicine, neurology, psychiatry, and surgery at the University of Arizona. He currently serves as the director of the Laboratory for Advances in Consciousness and Health at the University of Arizona and as director of Development of Energy Healing for Canyon Ranch Resorts.
