Cultivate a calm, clear mind and activate your pineal gland while setting powerful and balanced intentions with the new moon through hand reflexology and aromatherapy practice.

The new moon, also known as the dark moon, is completely invisible in the night sky. This is because she is in conjunction with the sun. The start of the moon’s 28-day cycle begins with the new moon, and from now until we reach the full moon, this first half of the cycle is known as the waxing phase.

New moons are the perfect time for setting your intentions and creating new plans.

The energy during the time of the new moon is reflective and quiet, a time when we allow ourselves to be alone with our thoughts so that we can hear them and pay attention to new thoughts and ideas that are beginning to form.

On a new moon, find somewhere quiet to sit and close your eyes for a few minutes.

Slow your breathing down, taking deeper breaths in and releasing your breath fully, until you feel calm and relaxed.

Hand Reflexology Points to Activate

Support your right hand with your left.

Reflexology points for the New Moon on right hand

Point 1: The Adrenals. The adrenal reflex is indicated as number 1 on the hand map. The adrenals are little caps that sit on top of the kidneys that secrete a variety of hormones, including adrenaline and the steroids aldosterone and cortisol. Working the adrenal reflex will help to soothe your nervous system, creating a sense of peace and calm, which will help to clear daily thoughts and clutter from your mind. A calm and clear mind will help you tune into intuitive messages, as well as give you the mental space to brainstorm and create new ideas.

Place your left thumb over the area shown on the hand map. You will feel like you are sitting just on the edge of the fleshy pad of your palm. The adrenal reflex is located just underneath the edge of this fleshy pad so, push down with your right thumb and then into the fleshy pad, almost like you are trying to get underneath it.

The adrenal reflex can often feel quite sensitive so if it feels a little bruised in this area, know that you are in the right place.

Now apply gentle, circular pressure to the reflex point for a minimum of 10 seconds.

While you do this, focus on slowing your breathing down. Breathe in for 5 seconds and out for 5 seconds. Clear your mind of all thoughts and imagine any tension flowing out of your mind and your body.

Work the adrenal reflex on both hands.

Point 2: The Brain. The brain reflex is number 2 on your hand map and is located on the fleshy pad of your thumbs. Working the brain reflex will help to reduce nervous activity, stress, and tension.

Place the pad of your left thumb, over the pad of your right thumb, supporting with your left forefinger on the nail side of your right thumb.

Apply gentle, circular pressure to the pad for a minimum of 10 seconds and clear your mind and focus on your breathing as taught in number 1.

Point 3: The Crown Chakra. The final reflex, number 3 on the hand map, is the reflex for the crown chakra. You will also cover the 3rd eye chakra and your pineal gland across the tip of your thumb too. These chakras, as well as the pineal gland located in the brain, will help connect you to your higher wisdom, guides, and intuition, supporting your creative process as you plan out your new goals from a place of deep inner trust.

Support your right thumb, as you did for the brain reflex, but this time work across the tip of the thumb instead of the fleshy pad. Slow your breathing and clear your mind.

Now ask your guides and higher self to lend you their wisdom and support for your new goals and projects. Keep your mind relaxed, allowing any messages to come through. Write them down in your journal so that you don’t forget them.

Switch sides and work all three reflex points on your left hand.

Create a New Moon Aromatherapy Rollerball

      The scents decoded.

Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) works perfectly with the energies of the new moon, clearing your mind of unwanted thoughts and emotions, keeping your nervous system calm and balanced, while creating clarity around new projects and ideas.

I have chosen frankincense (Boswellia carteri) for its supportive qualities, helping you to find courage in your new endeavors while removing self-doubt and criticism that might hold you back from achieving your goals.

      You will need:

      10ml rollerball bottle
      Sunflower oil
Lavender pure essential oil (Lavandula angustifolia)
Frankincense pure essential oil (Boswellia carteri)
      Label

On a new moon, fill your bottle halfway with sunflower oil. Add 2 drops of lavender and 2 drops of frankincense. Fill the bottle to the top with more sunflower oil.

Apply the rollerball top and lid and shake gently.

Apply regularly to your pulse points for a relaxed and balanced mind, body, and spirit, particularly for clarity as you work on your goals and intentions.

Do not use during your first trimester of pregnancy.
