Spirituality & Health - The Soul/Body Connection

S&H Book Groups

By Frederic and Mary Ann Brussat, Media Editors

Welcome to our new adventure! In every issue of Spirituality & Health magazine, we are printing an excerpt from a book we think you and your friends will enjoy reading and discussing. Some of our choices have been collections of essays and spiritual meditations. Another has been a novel. One explored a sacred story. All of our selections are chosen for having that special capacity to encourage sharing of your journeys.

Some book clubs take a literary approach (usually learned in college English classes) of analyzing a book as a book. They look at style, genre, character, and plot (if fiction) or development of argument (if nonfiction). But a spiritually oriented book club, we think, should focus, like spirituality itself, on experience. It should remind us of something that has happened in our lives. It should encourage us to step into the story or apply its ideas to our own situations. And it should make us want to talk about it with others.

Following are links to Resource Kits for all of our Book Group selections. On these pages you'll find links to pdfs of the excerpts printed in the magazine, full reviews and discussion guides to the books, and downloadable files of our free teleconferences with the authors.
